carter wgd carb.
Why does my car run ragged below 20mph when it gets to operating temp (180), runs fine when cold. The choke has been disabled, and no air/vacuum leaks. Feels like it is loading up, but plug color is correct. so that isnt it. Thought maybe heat shield was not keeping excess heat from carb, but ran same setup 40 years ago. runs beautiful at high speeds 60/70mph. Give me some ideas. Also when going up hill or with a load on it, it some times sounds like it is shifting into passing gear? clutch is not slipping either.

I had the same symptoms years ago with a Brand X and it turned out to be a bad coil. You could also have a bad plug wire making it crossfire, but I suggest checking the coil first.0
