Hornet Wheel Color

Hello Folks,

I'd like input on the proper wheel color a 52 Hornet. The car is Toro red (maroon) with the light gray roof. I've seen some maroon cars with maroon wheels and others look black, but I could be mistaken. The wheels that came with the project are some maroon, a white-ish and others black.

Would the wheels only be the main body color or would the roof color ever be used?

Kindest thanks,

Killer

Paint them whatever color you prefer. If not specified, Hudson used cream, but wheel color choice was up to purchaser. In 1952 Hudson offered 27 different wheel colors, including toro red and Northern and Newport gray.

In '51, wheel colors went body colors. Previous stepdown wheel colors were pale yellow or red. Not sure of '52's, but in '54, concerning the two-tone cars, the wheel color choice was yours, body or roof color.

Hudsondad's 52 hornet coupe is supposed to be these colors, I think. His are same as the body, in color, the toro red, and they look like they are factory original that color. He might be able to add more.
  • Thank-you all for your valuable input. We've decided to go with the body color of Toro red.

I appreciate the explanations, I didn't know why so many wheels are yellow!

And they say we have too many choices to make these days, LOL, we just don't have the choices on things we really want.
