Giving Back

Hey Folks, Everytime I had gotten help from you guys on the forum as my questions mounted and time and effort for answers came pouring in I couldn't help thinking, (crap) I keep asking and they keep giving me help. What could I possibly give back? Well I can help if it's needed. For the cost of shipping only, I have available for loan, a factory wheel puller for the rear of a28 hudson obtained through the graciousness of Superdave and machined by me to fit a 2 1/2 16 thread per in. hub. Contact me through a PM leave address and I'll mail it out. I may only be able to help a few, but I gotta do what I can. Phil

Giving back is good - in my case I have sent a copy of my General Information Handbook, on occasion, to people who have loaned me Hudson related material to scan, a done me a favor or just because.

On another level my web sites are my way of giving back to my "other" family for the fun, excitement and great people I've met over the past 38 years.

  • I hate that phrase "giving back", because it implies that the one "giving back" took something that wasn't theirs to begin with! How about just "giving"???
  • Gosh Patrick, took something ? not at all. How about ACCEPTED SOMETHING ? Giveing is when one gives something away, giveing back would be the proper term referring to giveing to someone who has given to you , and in no way implies anything disshonest. Just what the man intended, that he wants to show his appreciation for what others have done for him, I applaud him for his sentiment. Bud
  • I appalud him for the sentiment,as well, it is the term "giving back" that bugs the crap out of me. Again, to me, the term implies the person "giving back" is giving back something that wasn't theirs to start with. What is wrong with simply "giving" either way???

The phrase "Giving back to the community" is such PC silliness. My opinion.
  • It's just a term, sometimes we hear something so much we just incorporate it into our verbage. I think in this case though the poster really does want to return to the membership something of what he has received in the form of a way to help others. So it doesn't matter if he is giving to the membership or giving back to the membership. His offer to help others is what makes this forum so great.
