Nice Yellow '51 Hornet Convertible for sale
Here's a really nice looking '51 Convertible for sale.
Man!! They're sure getting up there in value --- but I guess the cost of restos these days make even a hundred grand a bargain.
Whoops -- forgot to add url:

I dunno when you start approaching the kinda figures you could buy a house with I'd go for the realestate over a car. LOL I've restored cars a heck of a lot cheaper than that. I find it Ironic it's on the website "deals on wheels" Who's the appraiser they mention anyways?0

Wow, that price tag makes me happy to have this one in the garage (But maybe I need to up the coverage!)0

Is this the one Bill A just finished a bit ago? And yes Park you should!0

With the help and advice of other Hudson Conv. owners via emails,I have checked this car out.. pretty thoroughly. Took some pictures etc.The elderly owner supposedely bought it at auction and actually never used it. He has/had a very eclectic collection of cars. I have a suspicion that this car started life as Commodore Six Conv. I did not check for the original numbers stamped on the right front frame rail. I could not reach it and didn't have a mirror with me. The vin tag on the door post is a reproduction and the "font" or stamp style is not original Hudson. The vin number would make it the earliest 51 convertible I could find in the roster. The engine is a later "Hash" 308. The engine is painted Silver, and should be gold, which makes me think the restoration shop, unfamiliar with Hudsons, painted the replacement engine the same color as the one that was taken out. The Commodore six 262 would have been silver. The Hornet "H145"medalions that should be on the door garnish moldings are not there. Commodores had no medalions. Some fasteners are missing on the top boot, the drivers door does not fit in the opening and appears to be either a sagging door or slightly bent frame rail. The transmission is correct for a 51, Hydro model# H50. There was evidence of some frame rail repairs, but well done. All in all a very nice car that could be made correct . It's been in an airconditioned private museum storage for years and unless it's been worked on lately, will need some service to be reliable. probably brake work and a battery? The car could have been purchased for a lot less a couple years ago, but alas I could not sell my land in time to take advantage of the deal. Hope someone gives it a good home.0

Strong asking price, especially for a car that may not be what it actually was. A hundred thousand car should be flawless.0

H-50 Hydro would go with an early production model for '51. My "A" series Hornet (354XX ) had an H-50, which I changed over to an H-51 to get rid of the mechanical shift to reverse in the H-50. Both are single range hydros. Don't know when they switched over to the H-51, but May '51 Issue of Hudson Service Merchandizer has an article on servicing the H-51 in 1951 cars... one advantage supposedly is not having to come to a full stop to shift into reverse- can thus rock car in snow or sand. We've got mud... hmmm. Walt-LA0

What is the range of VIN's for '51 and '52 Hornets? Is that information available?0
