Need a Hudson Vin Decoder

You have a 1949 Commodore Six. The first three numbers of the VIN give the year and model. In your case, the first two numbers are the year (49) and third number is the model number. The model numbers are "1" a Super Six, "2" Commodore Six, "3" Super Eight and "4" Commodore Eight. This numbering scheme was only used on '48 to '50 Hudsons. Other year Hudsons used different numbering schemes.0

Thanks for the information. This car is missing the front and rear axles so I must build a custom out of it. It needs to be chopped and dropped. I need to find the rear glass that is curved and front glass after it is chopped to chop down the front windshields.
Is the engine worth anything? Do not know if it runs or not.

Finding original front and rear axles for these cars is easy. Rebuild them prior to installing and they will last another 50 years. Same goes for the engines. I'm not saying don't customize it, but don't think these cars drivetrains are unreliable or the engines are slouches. Learn about the history of the stepdown. These were early muscle cars.0

And I can tell you, from a chart in my General Information Handbook your car came off the production line sometime in Sept 1949, (145765-156206) near the end of the production run (last number was 159201).
Another chart in my handbook tells me there were 32,715 Commodore 6's produced in 1949 - sorry, no breakdown on body styles.
