car dies when coming to a stop
ok, i finally confirmed what others suspected, the car ('35 terraplane 6 cyl splasher) dies because the throtttle valve closes too rapidly. i did check this model (WA-1 454) and i do not see a "snubber" like some carbs have to slow the linkage to keep the trottle plate from closing too fast. any ideas? i have tried different linkage springs, but if the spring is weak enough to not slam the throttle plate it is too weak to pull the linkage to idle. any ideas? regards, tom

Be certain the carb idle screw(s) are adjusted correctly when hot and the idle speed set up fast enough for sudden stop. You can duplicate by reving over fender then let linkage 'snap back' to test stall..0

Another common cause for this condition is the carb float set too high, allowing the bowl to bee full enough that the gas slops over into the throat. The new gas is lighter and needs to have the float set a little lower. I reset my 49 WDO 1/8 in lower per Geoff Clark's suggestion and that was the end of my stalling.0
