Horn Button Parts Needed

I am in need of the dark brown inner part and the nice, shiney outpart and the little metel flower shaped part for my 1950 Pacemaker Deluxe.



While wiring in the engine compartment was part of the problem, the button itself is/was not working. I gently took it apart to to find several cracks in the plastic.

I might have the part you need on a spare steering wheel, if deluxe wheels have the same item that I think you need...

Here is a picture. Yes, it is a Deluxe. I know they suppoed to be together. But they were not. Cracks not visible in picture. Spring popped out so I will need the proper stacking order to put it back together.

The black or dark part goes in the button and held there with tabs, The spring then goes in the dark part with the prong high side faceing down toward the steering wheel. Don't look like anything wrong with it , just clean the crud off , make sure the prongs have some angle to them {they can be bent a wee bit if needed ] and use it , any old ones out there will be crudded up just like it . Unless the cracks are real bad they probably won't matter either. I'm not a super glue fan but I ran accross some by surehold called plastic surgery that is some dang good stuff, got it at a True Value hardware . Surehold is in Chicago,illinois . How did you get that button off, pry it straight up or turn it CC a bit to unlock it and then up ? I recomend you try to repair and use these parts but if your determined to replace them I'd gladly send you some postage for them, I am missing these parts on a 51 .

I pushed in and turned. When I pulled it out, several pieces came off the silver button and two off the dark brown piece. I did super glue the larger pieces back on.



The wire that holds the button into the base is gone on one side thus my needing a "new" one.

Pacemaker 500, I don't have the part you show there. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but the wheel I got, and the one of the car, is a Hornet/Commodore style wheel, and the horn mechanism stuff looks different. I would have been more than glad to send stuff to you to keep you going, but honestly, what I got here does not look like it will help you much. I think that the parts you are looking for there, are going to be a select few years, and models, someone should have a few items for that, I would think.

Is this the button only or is it complete with spring assembled and ready to insert?

the spring that holds the button in place is on the part that is on the steering column. not with any of the things shown . Would'nt be too difficult to make with a peice of wire with a little stiffness to it if that's the spring your talking about. The spring that pushes the button back up after tootin is the little disc thing. If it don't you can bend those tangs a bit so it will have more push. Bud
