Need some rear light assistance

I purchased these lights for my 1939 112 and whilst I know they're not the right ones for my car they're an awful lot better than the UK ones I have on it at the moment.
My question is - how do I disassemble these? It would appear as if they are locked into place by the metal surround piece but I don't want to start bending away at this if there is a more simpler solution.
Any ideas please?

The attachment is my thought on how this might be disassembled....0 -

The 2nd picture shows what might be a piece of stainless steel that surrounds the glass lense and is tucked up under the edge of the metal base (if is similar to the T/L on the coupe). If you can gently remove this strip the lense can than be removed.

They look like '38T taillights. Any '38 folks confirm that and tell Paul how to remove the lenses?0

Thanks for your comment. I find it interesting as I see similar lights on both the '39 Hudsons for sale on eBay at the moment.
I know that mine should be mounted lower on the fender and are round (or were at least on the UK car) and I still have a light assembly from my old '39 92 which are long & slim.

The lenses are held in by the rubber section. You need to get a thin blade in between the edge of the rubber and under the lense, and gently work around. I agree, these are '38 lights. There is adequate room for you to fit an extra festoon bulb in here for indicators if you want. I have done this on a local '38 roadster.

Thanks for this. So they are '38 then - still they'll look good on the old girl! I'm glad there is room for an extra bulb in there as at the moment I have Land Rover indicators hung underneath the front & rear bumpers and I'm not liking how they look.0 -
Okay I got them apart. The stainless surround was holding the light in and it would appear that there was a rubber surround at some stage.
So next question which may be dumb. The inside of the light is painted which will of course concentrate the light to the end but it seems strange to me. Any ideas?
On the close up of the lens (which is out of focus - sorry!) it has a part number and actually says "LEFT SEDAN" on it.
Who'd have thought rear lights could be such fun!
