Disturbing dream in which one is trapped...
Looking at these photos (from the 2005 Moscow exotic cars festival) I am reminded of childhood nightmares in which one thinks one sees an old familiar friend from behind, then taps him on the shoulder and he turns to face you and..
HOO-HAAAAH!....
"No! No! IT'S ALL A HORRIBLE MISTAKE!"
Anyway, someone who knows 1936 Hudsons will at least award the car's owner a "C" for Creativity....
(can't link photos directly but go to the following page
http://yun.complife.ru/pic/auto2.htm
and then scroll up 12 groups from the bottom!)
To add to the unreality, here is a photo purportedly showing the same car, "before"!
(I sent a correcting e-mail to the fellow maintaining the website and he was grateful for this information!)

Hi Jon,
He doesn't seem to like a direct link because when you click on a picture you get this:
You are trying to link directly a picture from my site http://yun.complife.ru (or maybe to follow somebody other's direct link). I'm glad that you liked it, but I don't want to have a request to MY site everytime somebody is viewing YOUR page. So you may:
1) copy the picture to your site, but don't forget to put a copyright notice "(C) Yuri Nesterenko, http://yun.complife.ru" (notice is not necessary for gif banners and small pictures),
or
2) put a link to my html page which contains the image.0 -
I clicked on his site, and its all in Russian- I kind of lost interest at that point.0

Here's this dude's Hudson. He must be proud of these pics to make it such a pain in the butt to share them with folks.....
All images in this post...(C) Yuri Nesterenko, http://yun.complife.ru

yeah geeze....valuable pics on the web. Looks like a parts bin threw up on that '36 LOL But its still a sharp car in keeping with the style of the era on the exterior0

Thanks, Royer, for printing the photos! I've now added the correct URL's in my initial posting.
The '38 has now disappeared from the website (after I pointed out the error to the webmaster) so yours is the only photo of this, available.0 -
What can I say, the beauty is in the eye of the beholder., looks as though the passengers side horn is about to fall off, if any of you guys are looking for a horn, follow this car you may end up with one.LOL.0

Fellas I hate to be a bearer of potentially bad news, but the .ru part of the site associated with having to download the pictures is a BAD sign. My concern is compounded by the fact the pictures are no longer available at the origin site. These are characteristics of a site that passes malicious code to unsuspecting down loaders. Pictures are used as Trojan Horses to bring computer code to unsuspecting people. The code can be anything ... many times it is used to put malicious code on your computer so another computer can control the computer or capture its contents. The code once imported can replicate or launch other code... I would advise anyone who has those pictures use a robust virus and malicious code checker.
Hope I am wrong.0 -
I don't think all Russians are bad folks....My Norton didn't come up with anything, and my security stuff is set pretty high. I'm fairly confident that they were just jpg's. The one's I posted here are definitely just jpg's 'cause I had to resize them to fit here on Classiccar.0

I'm no computer expert but the fellow who runs the site did write me a thank-you note (for setting him straight on the years of the car, and the fact that the '38 couldn't have been the same car as the '36 due to the door hinging). And he updated the site with my information. If his only purpose was to introduce Trojan horses to hapless viewers, he sure is going "above and beyond" the call of duty to do it!0

With no intention of creating a tit for tat reply exchange, I offer the following URL as it may be of interest to those who feel protected by firewalls and virus protectors. The following link is a to-the-point examination of a current Trojan horse virus being distributed via downloaded pictures. Note the thousands of variations and the locations of the servers, primarily China and Russsia.
To repeat, I do not want to start an exchange about this concern ... just my two cents concerning the potential of this problem coming to your computer.
Have a Happy Hudson Day.

I find that the first of the pictures (the front view of the car) speaks a great deal about the contrasts that must exist in a land that will bear the marks of Communism for a long time to come. Look at the dreary sky line in the distance. Every building is the same height and shape. It's a vision of bleak uniformity. It's no wonder that when given a chance to express themselves (through their cars, in this case) they go a little overboard!0

Perhaps it was restored by a Bolshevik and a Menshevik.
(On the other hand, that '38 just might not have been the basis of the '36 resto, hee-hee....)0 -
hmmmm, a restorod. Are we going to see it at the Scottsdale auction soon?0

I've had additional correspondence from Yuri Nesterenko, who runs the website. At this point I'm confident that we needn't fear that this is some sort of "virus delivery site". Of course we always need to be aware that there are some "bad sites" out there....but this isn't one of them.
Mr. Nestorenko doesn't have much information on the individual cars he sees. He simply likes the aestetics of retro autos (restored and modified alike), takes a lot of photos at car shows, then publishes them on the web for the delectation of enthusiasts like us. He reports that, nfortunately, much as he'd love to own the cars he photographs, his budget will only for the purchase of 1:18 versions of them!0
