'41 Sedan Trunk Lock

Hi,

I'm trying to get the cylinder to stay in the trunk latch - no luck. The lock will insert, and rotate, and stay in the latch in the "lock" position, but the cylinder pops out when unlocked.

Both cylinder and latch seem to be intact. I had new keys cut for the cylinder. There's a few small parts held captive inside the latch - a spring, a flat piece of sheet metal, with three tabs cut at 90, 180, and 360, and a sort of D-shape cut out of the center, and a circular wire retainer that snaps into a slot deep in the latch and holds the spring and D-clip in place.

When I insert the cylinder into the latch, it will only rotate about 180 degrees before hitting against a hard stop. Fiddling with a paper clip through the little slot on the side doesn't seem to allow it to turn further. Obviously either something is missing, or something (probably spring, retainer, and D-clip) is not assembled correctly. I can't seem to figure it out!

HELP!
