New Member - My car '34 Terraplane Phaeton
Hi guys,
Just found this site by accident and wanted to show you my car - it's a 1934 Terraplane Phaeton, we use it as a wedding car for our business. She has 73,000 original miles and I have owned it since 1972. She still has the original motor, which is still very strong and reliable. The only thing changed has been the paintwork otherwise she is standard and as originally built.

Welcome to the Forum!
That's a nice looking piece of History you got sitting there - thanks for sharing the pictures.0 -
Being RHD you would have to live in Aust, and I think you have dealt with me over the years.

I love that frontal appearance with the big radiator grille & headlamps but with small low windshield, very rakish!
Who was the body maker?
There is one of these in the U. S., imported many years ago - it has changed hands several times & been restored.0 -

Les.P.
I have contacted you in the past and purchased parts,
and enjoyed a few conversations with you.
Would you happen to have, or know, where I could obtain a set of 1934 piston rings.
Many thanks

The one in the USA is featured in the July/Aug 2008 issue of WTN. Owned by Glenn Reeves of the Central Region. :cool:0 -
Here is a pic of another 1934 Terraplane tourer Aussie style, body by Ruskin.
Owned and restored by one of our country members.0 -
Hello Les
Do you know when this photo was taken, I was wondering if this is the one that Hans Fritz bought and went to America.
Regards

No Rob, that one is owned by a chap down in Griffith, has owned it for many years, and still has it. I think the one that went to America was white at one stage of it's life.0

Hello Again Les
Just thought I'd share a few perplexing differences with you .
The Grill is certainly a 1934 Tarreplane, but the doors open the wrong way, all 1934 Terraplanes's had suicide doors, also the bonnet in your photo has 5 flutes and 1934's have 7, the windscreen height looks higher. It is all a bit confusing.
By the way, I am still looking for rings for 212 cubic inch motor.0 -
G'Day Rob,
When individual manufacturers made bodies in Australia, they used what was available at the time, I think this '34 was made using some 1930 Essex parts, it has two air vents on the cowl, how many has yours got.??
I never argue with what Hudson or any body manufacturer used as they often used parts that were left over from previous years.
Do you know what size rings you are after.?? I know 3" bore, but has it been bored out.??0 -
Yes, the one now in the U. S. was imported by one Wayne Graefen who at the time lived in the L. A. area. He left Calif. & sold all his Hudsons.
It was white, is now restored, and back east.0 -
How hard are 34 parts to come by in Australia? I need some running boards and a drivers side hood side curtain just like the one on your Phaeton.0

G'Day dusty, about as much chance as winning the lottery I 'm sorry to say.0
