Baffle plates

My '46 Hudson has homemade baffles on either side of the radiator that are not stock. They are not terribly attractive as the metal is very thin and looks like it might have been made from reprocessed sardine cans. Were those plates standard?

Ditto the plate at the bottom of the engine at each side. The engine compartment is now looking pretty spiffy and I would like to know what was stock and what isn't.

I would appreciate a photo of the ones on either side of the radiator.

I dont have a picture but have two '47's. They have a splash pan baffle below the front of the radiator, on the pass side, and on the top (with the battery on the left side) all cleverly designed to prevent air from going around the radiator to enhance cooling. Perhaps one baffle was missing and subsituted with a homemade baffle.. Baffling was necessary because of the pinched small grille air opening....

Interesting... I need to find some pics of this. My 47 truck has no baffles, but the previous ower reported some issues with overheating. I would think some light gage sheet metal would do the trick.

Right now it's not an issue, because I don't even have it running yet :)

Anything you fabricate to force air flow through the radiator will be fine to prevent air from going around the radiator....

I made some of my baffles from coreboard (Plastic cardboard Sign material like you see at supermarkets advertising Sale Prices painted black).

Thin Aluminum like Soffit Rolls from Lowes works good too.

    FYI

If your radiator has Bafflers brazed to the sides is great. There is another that goes underneath in front of the radiator. I did not have it so I fabricated this Baffle in about 10 minutes.. Anything that will force the air thru the Radiator(Not around it) is fine. Attached pictures from yhe Truck I am finishing. Look close see a pc between the Battery, below, and on Pass Side...

Here are a few pictures that I have found with the plates showing. The third picture shows some shrouding that went around the bottom of the engine bay around the base of the engine. The forth picture shows the front splash pan before the radiator.
