I was born and raised there...never moved until November 1 last year. Job moved me and the family to Lake Point, right outside of Salt Lake City UT.
I had already put my vacation time in when I joined this forum and found out that the National meet was in my hometown this year.
I hadn't rejoined the HET club yet so was out of the loop. If any of you guys are going to be around the following week for Hot August Nights, PM me and I'd really like to meet you.
For those of you who do not know what Hot August Nights is; it's one of the most fantastic events in old car-dom. The entire area is taken over by cars from pre-1972 (only 5000 are registered) and guesstimate last year was well over 25,000!!
The main focus is on the late 1950's and early 1960's but we always see a couple of Hudsons in the mix. There are a lot of street rods and full Kustoms as well. Cars for every taste!! I have even seen a few of those high $$$ magazine cars cruizing around. These are not trailer queens and the cruize is the biggest thing.
Enjoy Reno, there's a lot more to it than gambling. Even if the casinos are a big attraction, don't miss a tour around Lake Tahoe as well as the state capitol of Carson City, just 30 miles south of Reno on US395. There's also Virginia City which is up Geiger Grade, south of Reno intersecting US395. Virginia City is a 'living' ghost town made famous by "Bonanza" the television show. The V&T railroad is still running with live steam locomotives on a track a few miles long.

Pyramid lake is also worth seeing , as its like no other place in the world ! They have a fish called the cui- ui thats only found in Pyramid Lake, thats a pre- historic fish. Theres a new IN -IN-Our Burger right down the street from the Hotel ! And a Micro brewery right accross the street, that has exellent beer and food.0

Just got back from Reno, at least 50 cars there already, about 20 vendors already selling parts. John Fromn already filming Hudsons, beer is flowing !0
