Thread sizes for grease fittings & flywheel cover

Have a 38 Terraplane and could use some help on two items:

First; the thread size and threads per inch for grease fittings to replace the plugs in the rear axle for the outter axle seals? I removed the plugs, which had some damaged threads, but the regular grease fittings I have don't seem to want to start into the opening. Either I have the wrong fittings, or the threads in the hole are damaged. Are there special sized grease plugs to fit the openings? Is it difficult to rethread the openings?

Second; screw size and threads per inch of the two screws that hold the flywheel cover to the engine block. I could not find these listed for '38s, so maybe they were not used that year although the block seems to be drilled and tapped for some kind of screw/bolt that would hold the cover in place. Thanks for any help you can give me.

  • The plugs are 1/8 inch pipe. Holes in bell housing to hold flywheel pan are 1/4 inch std thread. Careful greasing the rear wheel brgs with grease gun. To much grease and blown seal. Then brake and seal replacement job.
