Stepdown "8"' Registry
As you may have noticed in another thread, I have taken over the Registry of the Stepdown "8's". As I am new to this I will try do a good job for the club and the Marque in keeping track of these stepdowns. I have noted Uncle Josh's method of keeping track of Hudson trucks by watching Ebay, and plan on copying it along with other internet classic car sale sites. At the present I do not subscribe to any paper media classic car classifieds so if any one sees a stepdown 8 for sale please drop me an email with the contact information.
If you have not registered your Stepdown 8 with the club please do so. I have updated my contact information in the WTN and I plan on touching base with those who have already registered in the next couple of months.
Has anyone had any contact with Earl Huffman the previous registrar, I asked about him and no one in the HET had any information.

Hey Pat,
I checked my roster data from the 2007 Roster for Stepdown 8's 1948-1952
I eliminated any 8's that are definately listed as "MOD"or very highly likely to be V8's as I doubt very highly too many people wedged Hudson 8's into 6 cyl stepdowns. I could also judge by the ones with listed serial numbers.
The numbers are as followed below
1948 37 cars -2 (v8's) = 35 cars
1949 113 cars -14 (v8's) = 99 cars
1950 64 cars -6(v8's) = 58 cars
1951 63 cars -9 (v8's) = 54 cars
1952 31 cars -11 (v8s) = 20 cars
(Total 42 cars prob V8 powered)
Total stepdown Hudson 8 power cars the club knows about 266 Commodore and Super 8's 1948-1952 In the 05-2007 HET Roster
Hope this helps you. Bear in mind all this is only as accurate as the HET members bother to report (or count spark plugs) But I image it's as accurate a number as you can get. So your roster should list ideally around 266 cars if people would be nice and bother to registar them.0 -
Hi,
I have recently acquired a 52 C8 Coupe. Serial 8B187026. HydroMatic engine is missing. This is a project car..title shows 40,000 miles in 1963 Speedo now shows 45,000. Car is 100% solid.
Car is out of Flagstaff Arizona...now in Maricopa Az.
Car is for sale for $2500.00 No street rodders...car is to good and rare.
Thanks Al Saffrahn0 -
If your roster shows a 51 C8 Hollywood registered to Earl Huffman... the car was recently given by Earl to his son Mark. Mark has joined the National Club and will be joining the North Texas Hudson Dealers Chapter. Not new to Hudsons, but with a 30 year hiatus from the club, Mark will be looking for assistance in restoring it as well as the 51 Super 6 Coupe he also recieved.0
