Engine alignment
Could someone tell me if an original Hudson Hornet engine and transmission sat on the centerline of the vehicle. Since the dana rear end pinion is off center. Was the driveline or drive shaft off center to accomodate.
My assumption would be that the centerline through the crank and transmission output shaft were centered and aligned to the rear axle so that the driveshaft/s was perfectly straight. Or was the engine placed off center to accomodate this. Or did the 2 pc driveshaft not run perfectly straight.
Any help appreciated.

I don't know if this applies to HUDSON driveshafts, but doesn't a universal joint need some angle to work correctly? Seems I read that somewhere--Just a couple of degrees. FWIW0

In a stepdown body, the engine is slightly offset. can't tell you exactly how much, but it is off to the right. No doubt, that makes the right hand drive version even tougher to engineer. I'm on the road now, so i can't run out to the shop and check mine., Maybe some one will check it out and report back,
