Any one attempted to rust proof the inside of a frame. If so what type of products were used and how did you apply them.

Thanks

The factory stuffed the frame full of a moisture absorbing steel wool. What ever you do, don't do that!;)
  • I've often wondered about this subject and if using an undercoating wand and spraying something like Eastwood's Rust Converter inside the frame would work. Any ideas about this.

That and Eastwood also makes a more "wax-like" substance that you use a wand and spray inside doors frames etc.

Honestly though, unless you've acid dipped the body/tub - just hit it the best you can, put some rust-inhibitive primer on there and bolt it back together - chances are unless you're in your 20.s and keep the car forever - you'll never see the inside of the frame rails again :)
  • I used a spray gun with a long wand. One we used to spray kerosene and degreaser on engines. On a Pacemaker coupe that had been striped by RediStrip. sprayed POR15 inside all the frame rails then all the bottom of body and frame. Redi Strip removed every thing but the steel. Even took all the lead off.
  • The stuff in the Hudson frame is actually a product with the improper name of HORSE HAIR ... it was dipped in rubber and put into the frame and other spaces in hopes of silencing road and body noise... did until if got coated with road dust and turned into a perpetual mud clot that rusted out the car frame ... good idea... bad final result.
