Did I read in this Forum that Hudson speedometers are different from the 40's and 50's?

I am trying to use a '46 speedometer with a '53 Hydro & the hydro rear end. However the Speed reading is way off..... Thanks

I believe part of your problem with your speedometer readings is that your '46 speedometer head was designed to operate at 2000 turns per mile and your '53 Hydro & the hydro rear end is designed to operate a 1000 turns per mile speedometer head.

Thank You Mars 55, That explains the reason its about half off the actual road speed

A good speedometer shop can provide a little reduction or step-up gearbox to correct the reading. It goes on the tranny speedo cable fitting, then your cable goes into the box. Just tell them what correction ratio you need (2:1 step-up), and show them the bottom end of your speedo cable so they can provide the right connections for the box.

One of the JetSetters has to replace his speedo cable on his '54 JetLiner, the entire cable and sheath needs replacing, not just the inside cable. Do the Jets use the same as the larger Hudsons? Or perhaps someone can suggest a source for this part?

This company will custom built Speedometer cables.
