    It's a pretty detailed casting - maybe this is something authentic?

    The seller is pretty proud of it, in any case.

    Though it may indeed be a styling plaster, it's possible that it's a copy. It might be that someone made a mold of an original styling plaster and then created one or more copies of it for bigwigs in the company. And certainly, in the 70's or 80's, there were resin copies floating around in that large scale, most of them "in white" (ready for painting by the buyer). This Ebay one appears to be real plaster but again, it may or may not be an original Hudson styling plaster.

    If you look at the front end picture, you will see that is a 1950 Commodore, not a 1951 Hornet. It appears the seller has received some bad information somewhere along ther line..

    Bad information.... Yeah, like the fact that the seller was somehow lead to believe that it's worth thousands of dollars? I think most people with thousands of dollars to spend on a Hudson want one they can drive.

    I've gotten a few driver Hudson's for under $5K that the guy is asking for that plaster model. However it's he could document it and prove it's historical authenticity it might be worth that to a collector. Especially since a lot of Hudson's design and development stuff didn't survive.

    Amen to that. 5K would be a lot of parts . . . or even a whole car!

    I agree. After all, they're not making Hudsons or parts anymore. At least with a car and/or parts, you can use them or just look at them if you like. No choice with a model.



    But as Aaron says, the model would have worth to a collector if it can be documented as a legitimate Hudson styling model. Since Hudson (like all other manufacturers) had departments that built clay styling bucks (which were usually full sized), I don't see what purpose a painted plaster model would serve, especially since the design was already old at the time.

    Ypsilanti Heritage Museum has a plaster model of a Jet that I was awestruck by. It was definately not painted.

    On second thought, I think the body's painted Surf Green or Spring Green.
