'51 Stepdown muffler?
What is everybody using? I want it to sound like it did originally, not with a Flowmaster, or Borla etc. I'm getting too old to listen to the resonance at road speed from performance mufflers. Right now mine has a '76ish Ford Granada style round muffler next to the fuel tank. Isn't the muffer supposed to be under the passenger side back seat? Lemme know what you guys and gals are runnin'. Thanks.

when i took my exhaust off my 51 , the muffler was round and where you said you put yours. seems like it was around 20" long and the pipe wasn't very big

Dave actually the muffler on the 51 is supposed to be below the trunk floor on the passenger side. If your car is stock, it will have a sheet metal panel wall on the underside of the trunk floor. Its about 2-3 inches high. The narrow area that is partitioned off is where the muffler is supposed to go. The old source for mufflers used to be IH trucks. I think Fords had a substitute version that was usable as well.0
