Triple-H Hudson
Anybody out there been experimenting with home-made hydrogen fuel cells? I've been doing some internet, and you-tube searching, and think it might be cool to have a Triple-H Hudson.......2 Holleys on Hydrogen. It might shut-up some of the tree-huggers that want legislation passed to get older cars off the road, because they say they're not as fuel efficent as modern cars.

Don't know about hydrogen, but I plan on running my twin turbo Packard on E85 since it's readily available around here. Hydrogen is just too far off for me right now, but E85 is all over the Midwest.0 -
My first prototype. It made massive hydrogen bubbles when I first tested it in a 5 gal bucket. Now I need to do some MPG trials.0

Wow whod of thunk it? I was toying around with running one on diesel at one time but lost ambition. How does the hydrogen thing work??
Good luck0 -
After running this thing on my lawnmower, and my daughters car, I'm building a more "heavy duty" one for my Freightliner. It has a 475hp Detroit. I went by a plumbing store yesterday, and purchased a 20ft, 4in diameter PVC pipe, to make several cylinders out of. I also purchased an end cap, and a top, which screws off, to add the water. If I can just make enough Hydrogen per day, to equal 2 gal of diesel , that would save me $1200 per year! I can fill a 2 liter bottle with hydrogen in just under one minute, but I'm not sure what that would equal in diesel. I guess only time will tell.0

Just make sure one of thr H's don't stand for Hindenburg.
Just kidding sounds promising. I wonder if it would work on Mack concrete mixer trucks?0 -
There are HUNDREDS of sites that I looked at, before I decided which way I would go. Do a google search for, Hydrogen Cell, or Homemade hydrogen cell, or DYI hydrogen cell, etc. There are people using spiral core(I don't like that way), tubes, and plates. Also, for you "Non-mechanically inclined, there are some pretty good looking kits on ebay. There is one kit, made in Maylasia, that I was impressed with. The Buy-It-Now price was @$250. It uses the tube design. I chose plates, because it uses regular light switch plates, made of stainless steel, that are $2 each at Home Depot. Also check out Youtube. Lots of good videos of garage scientist.(ha) After I get my usual weekend chores done, I'm building the kit for my freightliner. I'll do some test over the next few weeks, and report back. My freightliner gets consistent fuel milage...6.34mpg, 6.38mpg, 6.32mpg. If I could just move it to 7mpg, that would save me $3552 per year! I usually drive @56,000 miles per year. (I'm a city driver)
56,000 divided by 6.3 = 8,888 gal.
56,000 divided by 7 = 8,000 gal.
888gal X $4.00= $3552. I'd save even more if fuel went back up.
As you can see, I spend @$35,000 per year for fuel. Thus, the search for "free fuel". Every little bit helps!0
