Aftermarket Power Windows?

I want to put power windows on the 49 Commodore and I'm looking for anyone with experience to enlighten me as to any pitfalls before purchasing the equipment since I have only dealt with cars with factory power before.

Basically I see at least 2 kinds of aftermarket units each has about a 2" wide center track with the major differences being one has the motor mounted on the track and the other the motor is 'remotely' mountable (still connected by the feed cable)

So that's it - I'm looking for information on manufactures and installations anyone has experience with.

Thanks!

    Howdy,

There a couple of good power window units out there.

    1. Specialty Power Windows. Check out www.specialtypowerwindows.com

    2. Electric-Life. www.electric-life.com

    3. Juliano's Interior Products. Posi-glide units. I used this on my red 47 Ford convertible of which I sent you photos of yesterday. They work great and I am very pleased with them but are a little pricey for my taste. But, you get what you pay for.

    4. New relics Power Windows. www.nu-relics.com These are like o.e.m. models

Charles thanks for the information, I was starting to think every car owned by the forum has hand crank windows - or - is a convertible with the stock hydraulic windows! :)
