Hangin' In There-Not Around As Much
Sorry guys for not posting and hangin around here as much. This is one of the best forums I frequent. Unfortunately, my health is taking a turn for the not-so-good, and when not working or playing with my son, I stay in bed. I have SFN (Small Fiber Neuropathy) affecting my hands, feet, and butt (yes thats right! lol). Its like your hands are holding onto an electric fence with your hands on fire. It hurts to type on a keyboard. It hurts to move the shifter on my lil' S-10 and push in the clutch with my foot. My neuromuscular doc yesterday recommended lined driving gloves to see if that helps. Unfortunately, it is progressing up my arms and a bit up the legs. You stand up...your feet burn; you sit down....your butt burns! LOL I am starting new meds now to see if they help better, 2700mg of Lyrica (antiseizure meds) and 40mg of OxyContin per day (I'm Rush Limbaugh's new buddy! lol). Though with my extremely high tolerance to narcotics, I don't know how long that will last since my tolerance will build up and I will need more and more of the drugs. The next step will be morphine. This will be for the rest of my life, unless they find new treatments. There is no cure as of now.
I still plan on getting to the Hudson one day when the Dodge is finished and more funds are available. Its a big project with lots of work to be done. Its funny how the pain lessens some while working on these old cars, I think its something in our subconcious, since we love to mess with them so much.
Anyway, just wanted you guys to know I'm still here though not posting as much these days.

Jay, You will be in Our prayers.
I have a degenerative heart disease, and diabetes. Like you it seems, and I commented on this to Hudzilla the other day that, when I get around my Hudson friends to shoot the breeze or work on my cars. It seems like I can get more done and with less pain than if I try to do things by myself. I think it must be some kind of endorphin that the body produces when you are happy. Kind of mind over matter.

Jay, I wish you the best and hope there is more that can be done to help you.0

Good to hear from you, not good on the prognosis. (well, at least, maybe they can quit using you for a pin-cushion and stop all the tests for awhile!)
You might want to look into some voice recognition software for running things on your computer, and typing by voice command as well, which would allow you to access your computer when your not feeling well ~ and probably bored off your butt!
How is the family doing? What's going on right now with the Dodge?0 -
Hey Jay,
You know we are hanging in there with you! We all here want the very best for you and that includes you getting well and coming out to play cars with us.
Peace,

Sorry to hear about your health problems. At least modern medicine helps make it more bearable. My daughter is a Chemistry Major in college, and wants to get in to research when she graduates. I told her to hurry up and start researching, I'm almost to the point of "getting old".(ha)0
