Well it's been a while but....
Hello Hudsonites! My 28 roadster is officially reliable transportation. Replaced the clutch disc. By the way 4 oz.white kerosene and 4 oz heavy oil works perfect! Had it out for initial test runs and only had trouble getting the gas to come up from the main tank. I wanted so much to fix that to keep the car 100% original, but couldn't. Still I desperatley wanted to drive the car soooooo... I put in a 6 volt fuel pump in between the main tank and the gravity tank with a momentary on push button switch. Now All I have to do is hold down the button to fill the grav tank . There's a vent that tells me when it's full, then I drive a couple of miles and just squeeze the button for thirty seconds to refill the tank, works like a charm, so well, that I took it for a 30 min. ride one way (boy was I nervous) and back. The only thing I should have done along with topping off the tank was to check the radiator level as on the last leg of my return trip it started to get hot, up to 200F but luckilly I was home by that time. When I checked the level the next day, sure enough it was low, so that will be added to the driveability formula. Now, I'm dying to get this car to it's first show, but I'm trying to stay local (next town over kinda thing). Well I found one this 14th of sept but, they want forty dollars to enter. Now, I may be getting old but, When did this happen? I mean come on, the last time I went to a show it cost like 15-20 tops but forty? you gotta be hardup for attention at that price or well off or something.I men I COULD afford 40$ but it's the principal of the thing. I don't want to invest in a car show! Anyway just thought I'd update everyone on my progress. Cars goin, (starts up with two cranks every time, knock on wood) stoppin and people are wrenching their necks when I'm out and about, and I'm.......havin a ball. Yes I'll be at the 09 anniversary show Wouldn't miss it and I'm hoping to meet all the people that I've talked to and the ones that have helped me so much on the (Miss Crabtree) project(the name I gave the car). Thanks forlistenin' Talk to ya next time.Sincerely Phil

Congrats Phil so glad to hear shee's going to take to the pavement once again! I've heard some long time car guys lately complain that back in the day some businesses and cruise night organizers used to give things to car guys to induce them to bring their cars instead of asking them to pay. Figuring that the increased business from the public spectators would more than offset buying the car guys a few burgers and drinks or whatever... and on rare occasion they'd even give them a few bucks.
Now most guys will tolerate $15-$20 ...maybe $25 stretching it with the understanding that T-shirts and dash plaques and all that aren't free to get but beyond that is probably too exceessive esp when you consider that all those guys had to pay for the gas to get to the show.
Anyway I'd love to see your wheels in 2009!0 -
Hi Phil,
You might want to give this guy a call to see if he might have a good fuel vacuum tank that would work.

He is a great guy to deal with, and 100% guarantees all the parts he sells! That's getting hard to come by these days. Would be much more enjoyable, and safer driving for you if you don't have to worry about keeping the vacuum tank juiced up all the time. May be hard enough to dodge the rubber-neckers on the road as it is without the distraction of the fuel supply. LOL!

Hi Phil, good to see you have the lady running and driving. You gave me a great idea though for my vacuum tank problem. I could put a float switch in the tank so whenever the fuel got low the electric pump would fill it, that shouldn't be too hard to set up. I quit running the DB truck when the oil pump lost pressure causing the vacuum tank to quit functioning. A float switch would keep the tank full and not interfer with the oil pump functioning.
