Removing Stainless Drip rail Molding on 54 Sedan

Red Devil paint scraper to gently lift molding and flat putty knife to separate molding from attachment works well.:)0

Drip rail is a strip that runs along the lip of the body. There is no attachment to retainer like other moldings. Nothing other than what looks like a crush fit on lip of roof rail. Used scraper for all other stuff do not see how you could use on drip rail.0

A bottle opener with the end rounded off and wrapped in electrical tpe worked for me.

so you put that in the gap and push back against the roof? its a parts car so I do not care about body but this stainless is in good shape so want to keep without damaging.
Thanks for tip.0 -
I would say that it would be more practicaql to use the bottle opener on the bottom side, place a paint paddle under the drip rail and pry on that slight lip that is on the bottom of the S/S trim. That's the way I got mine of my Super Jet 40 years ago, and it came off without any distortion at all.

Thanks for tip.
Plastic putty knife and a wooden mallet... slow and easy another method to get it off with out distortion... start at the rear of the car and move forward.0 -
Ken is right. Use plastic if at all possible. But you have to use plenty and I mean plenty of WD40. Worked for me everytime. Plenty of rust holding that trim on....Harbor Freight has some plastic tools just made for getting off trim. They are cheap. 4.99 I think.0

all of the above and a piece of 2X4 ABOUT 6 INCHES LONG, SET UP AGAINST OUTER LIP AND STRUCK WITH A HEAVY HAMMER LIFTS IT OFF SO IT CAN BE REUSED WITHOUT SPREADING OR DISTORTING STAINLESS. BILL ALBRIGHT0

Thanks guys got it off no problem. Liquid wrench to lube then plastic trim tool under edge slide along slowly and it lifted off no bends no mess. Just apply the oil and go slow worked a charm. Came off perfect.0
