'49 Super 6 - How common are factory options?

I've been reading up a little on the '49 Super 6 I bought earlier this year (http://www.classiccar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13764). I'm still a few years away from restoring it. Anyway, I noticed it has the factory optional aluminum head, as well as the optional Vacumotive Drive. I haven't yet measured the steering wheel to see if it's the 17" factory, or the 18" optional. What I was wondering from some of you that have been Hudsonites for a long time, is how common are these types of options?

Cheers,

Jason

Jason - At my fathers dealership in a small Ohio town, the options you mentioned above were quite common. Also, a good many of our customers wanted overdrive in their new car. As time and experience with the aluminum high compression head progressed, it was soon removed from the "recommended options" list in our store. Later, the Hydramatic transmission become very popular.

There were quite a few options available for 1949 cars. In my General Information Handbook I have an option price list effective 11-24-48). Some of the items listed were:

    Aluminum Cylinder head (491-492)

    Aluminum Cylinder head (493-494)

    Vacumotive Drive

    Front Fender Ornaments (491-493)

    DriveMaster

    Oil Bath Air Cleaner (491-492)

    Oil Bath Air Cleaner (493-494)

    Overdrive

    Weather-Control

Rear Window Reveal Molding, Chrome (491-493)

    Radio

    Air Foam Front Seat Back

    Direction Indicator

    Vacuum Booster Pump

    Commodore Steering Wheel

Airfoam Seat Cushion - all seats (491-493)

    Wheel Trim Rings

    Large Hub Caps (491-492)

Airfoam Seat Cushion - front seat only (491-493)

    Electric clock (491-493)

The 48-49 Parts book I scanned and had Gregg Maroney put on his web site ( http://www.hudsonterraplane.com/tech/tech_index.htm ) has some other items, tho most are covered above.
