On all of these that you look at get under the car and check the frame and rockers closely. These cars that sit out are prone to rust. When you read "a bit of rust" take your ice pick and go over the rear part of the frame and the frame under the rockers. First one is good price if the frame is not rusted. Floors are easy, frame not so much.0

Super decsion... 54 is a favorite of mine too!
BUT!!!!!!
l want to REENFORCE the comments of the post above... all 54 Hudson models, unlike their predecessor cousins from 48-53 have their body panels welded on vis a vis bolted on. What does this mean... the rusting of the 54s is harder to ID and repair. To fix a 54 you must cut off the offending body piece... previous models you have the ability to unbolt the panel to repair as well as inspect behind the panel. The frames are the same for all models, but the access is limited to the outside elements on 54 models.
Take a look at KEN CATES' STEPDOWN RESTORATION PAGES, there is information there which will educate you on what to look for as well as information on how to repair rusted frame members.
Good Luck in your search... suggest you look in DRY CLIMEs for the candidate vehicle... and even then inspect all candidates closely.0 -
