One done, one to go.
I finally finished my 50 enough to take it to Pigeon Forge on the 24 and will now start a long term project on a 51 that I just got Friday. This 1951 was on e-bay not long ago, and is a 4door as you can see. It is pretty rough looking but actually the frame, trunk and floors have no rust holes. All the major body work is on the exterior sheet metal. Interior is rough but complete. It has a factory overdrive and also the supermatic drive that seems to be complete. I don't know the mechanical condition of the drive train yet, but will get to that this coming week. I believe I'll need some luck with this one. Richie.

One beauty in the driveway and another waiting to become beautiful. Aside from the obvious, the 51 really does look solid. What's the story/history on the 51?0

Is your 50 a coupe or a brougham? I can't tell from the angle of the picture. If it is a brougham, it would be the twin of mine, as the color appears to be the same.

Dave53-7C, I don't know a lot about it other than it was stored for the last 35 years in a garage. The windshield has a sticker dated 1973. I will e-mail the PO to see what else he can tell me, would be interesting to know all about it. Richie.0 -

Richie,
Wow, a 35 year sleep. Sometimes I feel like I could use one of those. LOL It's always fun to learn about you car's history, especially when it's been hiding for that long. BTW, thanks for the PM.

Richie,
Mine is a brougham and was originally peacock green. In 1979, I had it painted by a fellow in Massachusetts. He kept it for the winter, and when he called to tell me that he was ready to paint it, he suggested a 1971 Chevy color that matched, at least the color chips matched. He wanted me to come down that Saturday to decide. When I got there, the car was painted ; he had decided on his own to go ahead. Where the new paint meets the old, such as a door jam, you can see the Chevy color has a bit more blue in it, but otherwise it is a good match.
Mine has a sun visor, and though I have a set of the side shades, such as you have on yours, I've never wanted to drill holes in the window surrounds to mount them. When I can get a picture of the car entered into my computer, I'll post it.

Hey middletom, as long as you are happy with the color that is all that counts. I took the gas tank door to the autobody paint store and had them match their paint to the inside of the door as it was not faded like the outside. I painted the car in sections, like a door this week and a fender next week and so on. I had the doors off so I could paint the jams and bottom of the doors. I used up the gal paint kit about 6 weeks after I started and had to get another gal. kit. The guy at the paint store said the second gal. would match the first one and the naked eye couldn't tell the difference. He told me an un-truth, actually there are two shades of green on the car. I drive the car every day so I expect dings and dents to happen and at some point down the road I will have it painted professionally. But for now I'm very happy driving it as is!! The window shades are screwed to the window surround in a very poor way, some screws barely catching the SS. What is done, is done, I can't change that. Nothing beats driving a Hudson !! Richie.0 -

Yes to all the above Bob. Thanks, yes I'll see you at PF. Richie.0 -
Richie,
That '50 is a very nice car. The '51 looks like it has great potential. Kudos to you for resurrecting History.

Thank you Glenn. The 51 is actually better than it looks and I'm making it a long term project, my goal is to finish it in two years. I checked the floors today and they are solid with no holes. It is a decent car to start with. I don't want to be a couch potato so I stay busy out in the garage. My wife calls my garage my "play station", She is right. Richie.0
