Pertronix question.

Hello Hudsonites,

I am wondering if anyone has had any luck changing out their points for electronic ignition. I put a Pertronix unit in a boat motor some years ago and I loved it. Do they make one for ( 212- 6cylinder), 6volt positive ground? Or has someone found one that works and can post the number of it?

Hudsonly,

T Jeff

Chuck G is right. The Pertronix part number for a 212 is 1568, but you need to add a "P6" to the part number for 6 volts positive ground. The application is '37 - '47 six with Autolite IGW series distributor. Note some '37 Terraplanes had a different Autolite distributor.

    OK, thanks again gang.

My dist is an IGB model so I sent a request off to Pertronix to see what if anything they say. Otherwise I may give the 1568 a shot.

    Hey all,

Well heres the update from the tech guy at Pertronix.

Eveidentally they dont make a kit for the IGB dist, BUT if I sent it to them complete (cap, rotor, points) they can 'custom' make it.......for $250.00.

Told him thanks but maybe another time.

    Guess points will do....

Why not get an Autolite IGW series distributor. It fits right in your block and would use the Pertronix 1568P6 unit. The part numbers are '37 is IGW-4012A, '38 is IGW-4013A and '39 is IGW-4126A and IGW-4201A. The Interchange Manual says the '40 - '47 distributors also fit. The part numbers are '40 is IGW-4203 and the '41 - '47 is IGW-4203A.

    Hey Mars,

That does sound like a much better idea! Who or where would be best to source out one? I am guessing the 37 one would be the best bet.

    Thanks still,

    Hey Mars,

I noticed on the Hudsontech website the only difference in the distributors is the cam angle. On mine its 38' and on the IGW its 35'.

    Thanks,

    T Jeff
