Whistle
I drove my Jet to work this morning and I noticed when I came to a stop I could here a whistle, I am not sure if it is a vacum leak or a bearing in the generator going bad. I did put another intake on and a new gasket. It seems to run a "little rough" at slower speeds, But at higher speeds it seems fine;) It has done it before but it went away. What do you guys think, vacum leak or a bearing somewhere.

I'll tell you one place I've gotten a "whistle" on my '37, and fortunately it's no big deal. It's where the tube from the climatic control on the carburetor, enters the choke stove on the side of the manifold. I've tried putting some of that furnace concrete in there to seal the connection but I still get a bit of a very high pitched whistle. You can test it by simply holding a rag against the connection to see if the whistling stops.0

My Jet had also developed a whistle. So I tightend down the bolts on the manfold and it went away. Knowing there was probably a deeper problem then I took it off to find that the two pieces of the intake were not lined up properly the last person put it on, and the intake had a crack. Speaking of Jets, does anyone have any Twin H linkage for a Jet?0

When I've pulled up to a stop and heard a whistle, it's never been my car. LOL0

Now Sara, we gents have never had the problem.0 -
You can check for a vacuum leak by taking a propane torch UNLIT, and turn in on so a small amount of raw propane is coming out.
While the car is idling (and whistling, in your case), direct the torch nozzle at places where the vacuum could leak, such as manifold to head, carb base, etc.
Watch out for the fan, and, if you have a leak, and direct the propane at the leak, (again, UNLIT), the engine vacuum will suck in the propane, and the engine will rev up.0
