Jethroe won't start

My 1946 Hudson pickup refused to start the other day. In investigating I found the carbon button in the middle of the distributor cap was missing (Gremlens at work and not of the AMC variety). Had a new cap and rotor and he started up and drove home. Thought I would treat him to a new set of points and proceeded to install them. Finished the job and no spark. Pulled the distributor to set the points at .018

Installed new Condenser and still no spark. Installed new coil and still no spark at plugs although weak spark at coil wire.

AAARRRGGGHHH!

Any sugestions greatly appreciated.

PS: Engine is a 1950 262.

Bad connection at the coil? Maybe a bad ground? It could be your coil fried which is why the button was gone and it lasted just long enough to get you home. I put a pertronix coil on the Hash when I went with the electronic ignition, I figured why put on all new and leave on a 53 year old coil.

Since it drove home okay, it is most likely something you have done whislt changing the points. Are the new points clean? No film across the surface? Is the connection from the coil tight? Is the distributor grounded properly. Do you have full voltage at the coil? Are the ignition switch terninals tight?

Or you got a junk condenser. I recently put three straight NEW condensers on a 706 IH before one lasted more than 5-10 minutes, it has run like a top all summer now
