48-49 Bumper jack

Can someone post a picture of the 48-49 bumper jack showing the part that contacts the frame when jacking up the car? Thanks

    It doesn't contact the frame. It hooks under the bumper, which is why I don't use one on these 50 plus yr old bumper supports. Might better jack in front the rear wheel at the K section of the frame. Jack the A frame at the front.

    In the front,The step downs have a pad , that is part of the frame ,behind the bumper and the jack should be used only at those two points. In the rear, behind the bumper ends, there are box like pieces welded to the quarter panels that the jack should be placed under. Jacking by the bumpers will surely damage them. Every Hudson I ever had, have been damaged by improper jack placement. Cars with rust in the quarters are dangerous to jack. Use a scissor jack under the frame.. as long as that isn't rusted!

    I too, would like to see a picture of the original jack and lug wrench/handle.

    The jack i have is aftermarket and works. I have a Hudson hydraulic jack that need repaired. I may restore it.
  • Iam going to use a modern jack when needed but was interested in what the original jack looked like from the base to the moving mech. Thanks

  • That tripod jack is after market. Got a blue one that I think came from Western Auto many years ago. The jack that came in the cars was a single post that sat on a square pad. The top had a hook that went in the pads. They did not lift by the bumper itself.
