I am not too familiar with 55 Hudsons, so this may be a dumb question. Will a 308 fit in the engine compartment of a 55 Wasp, or would it take too much modification.

no, that's why they used the 202 not the 232 or 2620

So apparently the Wasp is a different model Nash than the Hornet? Otherwise, would think the 308 would fit in either. I was thinking that they used the 202 simply because they had a bunch of them left over from the Jet fiasco, and so used them up in the lower priced Hash Wasp. Were the Wasp and Hornet two different Nash models?0

The Wasp has a shorter engine compartment than the Hornet. The 308 does not fit, the 202 does. I had a 202 in my '56 Super Wasp, and there's no way you'd get a 308 in a Wasp.0

The AMC 327 engine will fit in the Wasp. In late 1956 AMC put the 250 v8 in the Hudson Wasp and called it the Hornet Special, and did the same thing with the Nash Statesman and called it the Ambassador Special. The outside demensions of the 250v8 and the 327v8 are identical.0

Yes, the 1955 Wasp and Hornet were two different Nash models. The Wasp used the Nash Statesman body which rode on a 114 inch Wheel Base and the Hornet used the Nash Ambassador body which rode on a 121 inch Wheel Base.0
