FYI

Scroll down 4 Threads to 'St Rod in Process' and look at the Richard Pridemore 1bpatstokes@netzero.com front Disc Brake Set-up. You can buy complete or buy the brackets then buy the Rotors etc at local Auto Store like I did. Insert some pictures of your Project.

If you use the search feature on this forum you will find multiple threads about this. There are two guys making similiar bolt on type kits, using new hubs and stock brake parts to complete a set. Richard Pridemore in NC and Bill Labud in FL. I heard that Bill was not making these anymore, but I don't know that for sure. There are quite a few guys who have used these on here, but I have not. I plan to install some on my 50 Pacemaker eventually.

I would love to see some pics of your car, there are multiple threads about posting pics here also.

  • When I got my Labud kit last year, Bill wasn't sure whether He was going to make any more kits. My kit was a direct bolt on and uses many off the shelf pieces. Main part is the caliper brackets, but as I stated, they were a bolt on. Bill also does a slight modification to the original hubs. I put the kit on in one day, and am very satisfied with the system. I do plan later to go to a swing pedal and a newer style mastercylinder but it is not a MUST.
Rick Pridemore makes a nice kit also and the hubs are really nice. I know he has sold quite a few and have heard nothing detrimental.
You won't go wrong with either set up.

    FYI

1bpatstokes@netzero.com for DiSC Brake conversion Kits or just brackets to buy rotors/pads locally. Stock Hubs need Drums removed and only slight machining.

I used the PRIDEMORE setup on a long wheel base Stepdown and instead of the under floor MC, I used a swinging pedal and hydra-boost from an Astro Van. There is limited space for a huge vacuum booster, so the Hydra-boost system fit with no modifications. The pedal ended up just where I wanted it. Just drilled the required holes and mounted it. It will end up roughly where the voltage regulator was.I did add a short brace to keep the firewall from flexing. The brakes are GREAT! Maybe the same system would fit on your SWB ??
  • Dave-

What year Astrovan did you get the pedal and booster from?

Most of vans had the vacuum assist. My 96 has the Hydra-boost, so I know that year has them. What other years?? I dunno. ?
