37 springs

In looking over the leaf springs for the 37 PU I am working on, I decided they need to be taken apart, blasted and painted then re-assembled. I noticed that on the rear springs, the top leaf is a short or half leaf. Does the half go towards the rear of the PU?

Also, are the clips that hold the springs together available?

Thought I'd share this as well -- below is a quote from Eaton springs -

"Front springs are $559.00 a pair and the rears are $589.00 a pair plus shipping. In order to provide shipping cost's, we require the "ship to" zip code."

Thanks!

    FYI

I dissembled my '37 Leafs cleaned them then lubed and re-assembled with new center bolts and clamps. I also drilled each end for 'nylon sliders'. Lubing & installing 'sliders' quiet (and soften) ride characteristics. I suggest take notice how it set then dissemble, and inspect before replacing.

Center bolts, clamps, U Bolts, and sliders are available from any Spring Shop. The Shops used to be in every City but now are sparse but still available in most major Cities. I had new thicker front Main Leafs made because of installing a heavier Hornet Motor and re-used the leaves below the Mains. Some Shops will even re-arch your leaf's.

I did not have the Half Leaf but seen them; Belief the half is a 'Helper'.

    Just a thought.

my 37 pu has no half leaf either, and I know these are original springs.

I was advised that the half Leaf was an attempt to quiet the springs & help prevent stress cracks. That makes sense because there is no support bracket above the half leaf that Ive seen....
