New High in TWIN H Asking price?
I came across the following Craigs list ad for a complete Hudson Twin H.
Could be a new high price for this option?

Isn't that the setup that just sold on eBay a while back? Ski4Life would know.0

Don't think it's the same one as on E-Bay, but I could be wrong. More power to him if he gets his asking price. I wouldn't pay it.0

Not mine. I only got $560, and it was about in the same condition. I guess it was not a good week to sell. I have another setup for a 55-56 that has near perfect, restored air cleaners and NOS carbs, but I will probably wait for the economy to even out before I try to sell.

Lif The Crbs Are Rebuilt, And As Hard As It Is To Find An Uncracked Manifold. I Think It Is A Fair Price, But I Would Like To Examine It Personally Before Purchase, Bill Albright0

Your right. I think that is the problem with trying to sell an item like this on Ebay or Craigslist. I wouldn't want to spend that kind of money either without personally looking at. A person might have a better chance getting top $ taking these items to a Hudson meet where the buyers can examine in person.

Really not too bad a price for a turn key set up. Most twin-h units sold are not ready to go. Nice aircleaners, rebuilt carbs, etc ... and assuming ready to be installed... not too far of the mark IMHO.0

If I were in the market to spend $1,000.00 for a Twin-H set-up, I'd look for one with a car attached.0

The linkage is definitely a plus - how many set-ups have we seen that didn't have the linkage!!!

I aree with that, Niels, with the exception being the carbs in the ad are not re-built. They are originals that were simply taken off of a car. Keep in mind that to have a pair re-built runs in the neighborhood of $350-$400 depending on how they get done. Back that out of $1000 and you've got about the price ski4life got for his set-up on E-Bay.
Still, a little scrounging will bring you a complete set for 200-400. A little work to re-furbish, send the carbs out and you could have a nicer set for PERHAPS a little less.
All this stuff is relative. Different strokes for different folks.0 -
I just got ahold of a Twin-H setup that was on a boat motor. It has the water exhaust manifold instead of the normal exhaust setup. The intake has cast bars between the runners (like a set of sbc chevy headers) and stoker marine cast into the side of it?
Anyone know a thing about this. Are they worth much? Any help would be great.
Dusty
P.S. I paid $530 for the engine the marine setup another twin-h with air cleaners and 2 more pallets of crap that went with it. Also sold $60 worth of stuff at the auction I didn't want.0 -
Obviously worth whatever anyone is willingto pay...... I feel it's too high. I'd want the rest of the motor attached, if not the car as well. At that price one of our HET suppliers would seriously think about getting into reproduction of the setup. $1000 for only 10 extra HP ? That's $100 a horse. Rarer are the Clifford and Edmunds setups.... comparatively I should think the factory setups might be worth less. .... also not all are interchangable.0

It looks like it has the dual exhaust adapter. But still, at a $1000, whew.0

BTW- that 1956 Hudson Hornet 308 engine with Twin-H and Hydramatic that was listed on ebay recently went for only ~$350. Sounds like a steal if the Twin-H setup alone is worth $1k!0

If the carbs are rebuilt, the manifolds are not cracked, and everything is ready to go and well painted, then $1K is not terrible, you will have this much in one, if you either piece it together, or have to rebuild it all otherwise.
figure all the gaskets, rebuild kits, paint, bolts, stickers, carb plates from Bill, machine work, if you break a few bolts, fuel lines, etc.... I think any which avenue you look, that you buy one for $250-$450 that is where you will be at by the end of the day. If you have someone rebuild the carbs, then you are in deeper.
Let's face it, old cars are not cheap, twin H is real neat, when you lift the hood, and those red air cleaners are there, it draws a crowd.
When I find time, I got a few sets of air cleaners I am going to restore, refinish, and likely sell. I think two sets are the oil bath, and one set is the paper filter type.0
