I read in the current WTN per Sam that media relations for the upcomming 100 year anniversary of Hudson in Detroit is being addressed and help solicited.

I would assume that Hemmings would be in attendance. Some thoughts that may or may not have been considered...

- Contact: all major car clubs (American, European, Asia, Etc)

- Contact media relations at Chrysler, Ford, GM, Toyota, Nissan, Etc

- Contact TV shows such as My Classic Car, Car Crazy, etc

- Major car magazines

- Send formal invitation to Jay Leno

- Contact Pixar / Disney studios (Can Ivan Z. help us with this?)

- Contact SEMA and major auto accessory companies (lots of sponsorship opportunities here and freebies)

- Contact NASCAR organization (Help providing display vehicles? History?, Sponsorship?)

- AAA club (Largest car club and largest travel agency in the world- get article in their monthly mag)

- Route 66 Organizations /websites

- AARP (monthly mag article)

- Other ideas???? How about soliciting a couple major trucking companies providing a free shipment of members cars to the National (ie: one or two runs from the West Coast)

All of the above are in the works. Other ideas welcomed! :p
  • Contacting the BIG Three might result in a ...

    1. No Longer in Biz

    2. On a 6 month shutdown - Chrysler is shutting down for a month and GM is cutting production through 1st Quarter.

    3. Not able to attend due to Bail out funding restrictions.

Might be the time for Hudson Club to extact the HUDSON name as well as any historic information from Chrysler... future seems a bit iffy

Irony could be the obsevation of some of the BIG 3 going out of biz in the year Hudson observes the 100 annniverary of its' founding. 55 years after Hudson last produced a car on it's own lines! History maybe repeating?
  • lets pool together and start a new car company....Hudson!

    Build an honest, quality car.

If we did that, could the Hudson Club then, in all honesty, go to Washington and ask for some sort of cash assistance????? Maybe get gov't subsidys to help pay for National hotel accomodations??? :D

Might be something to think about.

Alex: Right on... just get in line with the rest of the folks.
  • It might work out that since Washington is so Hell bent on destroying, and or running all types of manufacturing out of the U.S. in their never ending quest to make us a third world country, they might pay us NOT to build cars!

I've thought of this very thing recently. But can you imagine? Not even remotely feasible. Firstly, to be competitive, many parts would have to be plastic components, like everyone else's. Many metal parts would have to be outsourced to Mexico, China and India, meaning lack of compatibility. Even if you didn't go this route, and truly make a quality car that was a step above nearly everyone else, the car would have to sell for 250K, and your market went to nearly zero.

A couple of years ago, when Dodge(?) made that concept compact Hornet, it made me shudder to think those were going to be on the road and compared to Hornets made half a century ago.

We're better off fixing 55+ year-old tin and doing the best with what we've got.
  • I have been doing a intensive media blitz up North here for the National. So far I have told Two Friends and if they tell Two Friends.....well I can tell you all know where this is going.....correct we would have 4 people who know.....plus me is 5 so almost there folks almost there..
  • Sean, are you flying or driving?
  • Probably coming out of Brazil at that time so flying.
