Yeah, I'd imagine.0

Time, and possibly the person who bought it, will tell.0

That is what I was thinking. It's pretty easy to say anything in an ebay add but unless you see the car yourself you are buying a pig in poke. I know. I bought a Willy's CJ 3A on ebay and it wasn't near what the seller said it was. It ended up okay because I could fix it's problems but it still wasn't as advertised. I don't think I would buy another vehicle on ebay unless I knew someone who I trust who could look it over for me first. Might be the best deal in the world but I'll wait and see how the buyer feels when it's all done. Hopefully he's a HET member and will share with us.

Its back on ebay.0

I don't see it on Ebay.... looks like it sold....0
-
Yeah, but I gotta think it's a good time to pick one up if you're interested, and can afford it.
I don't think too many folks are looking at buying these projects just before Christmas, in this economy.
May have come in a little under the radar...0 -
so this didn't get relisted ? does anyone know if it actually got bought ?0
-
I just looked at where it was being sold from and decided not to bid. I hope the buyer got a great deal. To me the price was about right though. I think in the next year we'll be seeing much better prices. I know you can buy a good used Harley for 1/2 of what they were selling for 5 or 6 years ago when it was a sellers market. I think car prices are headed in the same direction.
Harry0 -
Harry, that's cuz Harley (the marketing genius's that they are) got serious and made about a gazillion Harleys. Wasn't long, 'bout everybody who wanted one had one.
Hudson Motors ain't gonna do that...:)0 -
I have to go along with Harry. If the economic situation doesn't improve over the next few months, people who want to get rid of the pending projects are going to be ready and able to accept lower selling prices, and will be throwing in cashes of spare parts to get rid of their these project cars.

One thing that concerns me of the future value of our Hudsons, recession or not, is the seemingly lack of interest in our cars by people younger than 40 or even 50. I mean, take a look at a regional or national Hudson meet and I believe you'll see most of us are in our 50's or older (I'm 51). Will there be an interest "down the road" so as to get what we would think is a reasonable value for our Hudsons when we sell them due to age or just too many or is this recent example on Ebay a sign of things to come? Sure is something to ponder.0

I am 36 just had a birthday. My Grandfather owned a '53 Hudson Hornet Sedan that he bought new from his brother-in-law in Kansas. My dad is restoring it and we are very interested in keeping the Hudson brand in the public eye. There has never been a car that has captured my interest more.

Get Those Hudsons Out And Drive Them Somewhere Other Than A "hudson Organized"meet. I Drive Mine To Work 3-4 Days Per Week In The Good Weather And To As Many Shows As I Can Including The Woodward Dream Cruise. I Always Got Alot Of Looks And Questions About Hudson. Drive The Cars Generate Some Interest.0

You hit the nail on the head. Most local Hudson organized meets are too small IMHO. Too many Hudsons sit in the garage and get no public exposure. Also, if people are sitting on a project, they should consider selling it to someone who will do something with it... like getting it back on the road. I sold two projects for the very same reason.
No question that there is more interest (at least recognition) from the younger folks on the stepdowns due to the movie "Cars".0 -
I agree with you Jeff. I drive mine often, to work, to shows, and like you I get lots of questions. I was at our chapter Christmas luncheon a couple weeks ago and there were four Hudsons there. Had a lot of looks from people coming and going, some stopped to talk also. But it does help that out here we have good weather almost year round.0

The problem with far too many Hudson owners is this: They don't want to go to a non-Hudson show because...wait, it's coming....they don't want to be judged! Horrors! Oh, no, someone might say something about my car! I can't have that! I'd much rather just hang around with the dozen or so Hudsonites in my area and stare at each other's cars, usually at someone's house, and not let anyone see them, much less judge them! Oh, no! Oh, and you can actually opt-out from judging, if judging is such a hang-up! I understand fully the HET concept of no judging at HET events, not a big deal. But, far too many owners think the world should be the same way! Go to an all-makes show and enjoy!!!
Face it, folks, unless you get your Hudson, Terraplane, or Essex out to other than just HET Chapter events and regional meets, NO ONE else will see your cars!!! Take the cars to an all-makes show, or a cruise night somewhere. When all you do is hang out with people that have the same car as you do, that gets boring realllly fast. That's one reason I am NOT a HET member or a member of the local Chapter
I have a ball with my '37 Terraplane! It was in four shows last year, and was the ONLY Hudson at each! Most people at these shows had never HEARD of a Terraplane - now they have! Thiings change when you change. Get your car out there and be proud of it! Get it out there among the people who know zip about Hudsons. Believe it or not, the world outside of Hudson is NOT all Chevy street rods!0 -
Absolutely! Hudsons are so rare that when one (and usually only one)shows up at a show it draws lots of interest, despite its condition. And you'll find that serious car folks appreciate the big six and its tomato sauce can air cleaners. Believe me, once you've seen a Chev. 350, yawn, you've seen them all! If I look at a gorgeous '49 Ford convertible and then see a "350", I move on. I have a '56 'vette that I drive, show, work on, and I can't wait to get the "Fabulous" '54 coupe out there. Regarding judging, if it worrys you just put up a sign "Please enjoy, not judge".0

I am doing all I can possible to get another fine Hudson on the road, and when I do I will not be reluctant to attend any make or model show, hopefully we 'll be on the road in 1st quarter 2009

66patrick66, I couldn't agree more about "driving" the Hudsons. I drive mine every day as long as it isn't raining(leaks around the doors). I drive it to all kinds of car shows not just Hudson shows. I won two trophies at non Hudson shows this past fall, it is the center of attention as it is the only Hudson there. It was 18 degrees yesterday morning and it started right up and I took it to McDonalds for my morning coffee. When I finish my other Hudson I will have to make a choice every morning which one to drive. Great cars and I love 'em. Richie.

AMEN 66patrick66, thank you! Let's show people there's more than Fords and Chevys at these shows. And Congrats Richie on your awards, I'm up to six awards now and mine is no where near as polished or finished as some of these trailer queens, and yes you can opt out! And I do agree that we do not have to judge at HET events!
Now I hope I did not ruffle too many feathers here...0 -

Thanks LanceB, and congrats to you also. I appreciate the trophies but don't go to the shows looking to win anything, I just go to have a good time and enjoy looking at all the cars. I meet a lot of nice people and always seem to have a lot in common to talk about. Lots of good ideas come from looking at how other people do things differently. Richie.0 -
Since most of us like to drive our Hudsons and talk about them and discuss the adventures we have driving them, consider having a Hudson(HET) met like the one held at Pigeon Forge, TN each year. We park the cars on the curb for display to show all that drive up and down the main drag how nice these cars are. Sometimes we drive them to eat or shop, but mostly just show them and talk to the admirers. Occasionally someone may sell one, sometimes one may be in the back being worked on, but I float between the flea market and the cars on display, always someone with a story or adventure to tell. Come visit our Smokey Mountain meet in October each year. And bring your Hudson. Bob0

I am very much in agreement about going to all-makes shows. The Hudsons get a great deal of attention because of scarcity, and no one looks down his nose at our cars. A recent show I went to had a beautiful 51 Hornet convertible that realy had spectators gathering. My Pacemaker Brougham was first directed to the Modified section because of the low roofline, but I soon found my way over to the Fabulous Fifties where we had a great time talking with those who only had heard of Hudsons or remembered them from childhood.

The only show I've attended so far is the local Friday night cruise in by the Past Pleasures Car Club, it supposed to be all pre 70 cars but all kinds show up. So far I've been the only Hudson at the cruise and there is always some know-it-all who walks up and states it isn't really a Hudson because AMC had bought Hudson out so it is really a Nash. Most people though just walk up and reminence about some Hudson memory they hold. I miss most of them because the Sheriff's unit I belong to has it's meetings on the same night and this past year I was Captain of the unit. Next year I will attend more since our meetings are being changed around.
