Cracked Caps
Has anyone heard of a bad run with standard al-138 distributer caps ? I have gone through 2 caps on my 54 hornet in the last 3 months. It seems to happen when it raining or wet out. They seem to crack in the same place. THen all heck breaks lose with arking..... Is this just a coiincidence ? Anyone else have this experience ?

Haven't heard anything about such a problem. Might be worthwhile to ensure you have the correct rotor.0

I haven't heard of such a thing, but If it happened to me, would check to see if the distributor bushings are not worn and that the correct rotor is installed.. Perhaps there is interference between the two? Cracks can be present and not noticed until a little moisture gets in the crack and all heck can and will break loose! I've had several rotors that shorted internally to the shaft. One was new out of the box! Inspect the next new one you get ..very closely before installing it. Good Luck..0
