Hudson Historical / Trivia Question

Here's a question for some of our long-time H-E-T Club members.

Many years ago in the WTN, I read that -- when the Jefferson Avenue Hudson plant was being demolished, the City (or someone) salvaged one or two of the trees that had stood in front of the administration building, and transplanted them to a park somewhere in Detroit.

Does anyone recall which park that was, and is there any way to identify the tree or trees (if indeed they still survive)? As I recall, one (or more) of them was damaged by the demolition equipment, but at last word it was still hanging on.

Possibly if this tree (these trees) can be located and identified, one of our Detroit-area people could take a snapshot of it and post it here, or send it to the WTN.

  • Ask Ken Poynter. It was in his WTN article.

The "Hudson Tree" is in Belle Isle park which is in the Detroit River near the location of the Hudson Plant on Jefferson Ave.

The tree has been pictured in the WTN a couple of times. I have looked for it, but there are a lot of pine trees on Belle Isle!!
