    Isn't this a fairly rare car ??
  • The '38 Terraplane was a very popular car in New Zealand in it's day and a few are still in existence here. They are one of my favourite models and I would love to have one one day. They epitomise the Hudson look of the thirties.

Any 1938 car is rare, as it was a recession year. Even Fords and Chevys of that year are (relative to other years of Ford and Chevy) rare. Also, Terraplane was only made part of the year, then Hudson switched over to making the "112". Alex Burr's "General Information Handbook" shows only 6,588 Terraplanes built during clanedar year 1938 (of course one would have to add a few more '38's that were manufactured in late 1937) which isn't anywhere near the 83,436 manufactured during calendar year 1937.

Using the old "one-half of one percent" survival rule, you'd have maybe 50 surviving '38 Terraplanes at most.

;) The seller is definitely a Hudson person, look at the back grounds in the pictures. Some have partial views of two or three Stepdown era cars. :)

The house belongs to NW Chapter member Jim Harmon located east of Portland in a town called Banks.

Not sure if it is his car though.
