I know this has been run before but is there anyone on the west coast that can modify a hydro for drag racing? Or any coast for that matter?

The two I know of that can do it are in the Chicago area ... Gus Souza and Randy Maas. Hope you find someone a bit closer!0

Lou Cote is in Pacific Northwest and is on this board as DYNOLOU. I believe he or someone he knows is a Hydramatic specialist.0

Not that hard to do. I have done several. Unless you are going all out I.E. Something like a Chrysler or big block Chevy or such. Just making sure everything is in good shape and increasing the line pressure will work OK. Only real modification I did other than going crazy was to use cast iron annular pistons cut down to allow an extra clutch disk. They were very strong to begin with and I doubt that you will produce enough torque from a Hudson to hurt it if its in top notch shape. Last one I did was behind a modified Pontiac set back 10" in a 49 Ford tudor, real sneaky, street racer. It was scary to say the least. That was in 1962. Tom0
