how low should i let my pads wear before changing them? i have between 1/4 and 1/8 of an inch of pad on my front pads. i have never changed them before so i dont know how much pad was on originally, so i dont have a good guage to reference from.

New brake shoe linings normally run from .1875 for standard linings to .21875 for oversize., before being fitted to the brake drum. If you have bonded linings, you have some wear left there yet. However, if the linings are rivetted to the shoes, you should probably be looking for some replacement shoes soon.
