:eek:Once had a blue '51 Hudson coupe, long time ago, be fore indoor privies, running water, paved streets, modern devices like radios, tv's movies and yes DVD's. Guess I should have kept it as it would be one of the most famous cars at day care.

It is a great movie, and when I take my blue '49 in a parade, children always say "Doc Hudson" what a privelige. Arnie in Nevada
  • I still chuckle when I think about some of those people who didn't think this movie would be a big smash hit for Hudson. Can you believe it, non believers?

Looks like Earnhardt jr. just pulled a Chick Hicks maneuver at Daytona. Quite the pile-up!

It is worth noting Jr's post race comment about the wreck - "I was makin' a run and Vickers shouldn't have pulled down in front of me!!"

Care to explain that one!!! That is so typical Jr. Jr. has two problems - #1 - Daddy he ain't (and won't be) and #2 - he isn't as good as he thinks he is.

NASCAR continues to cow-tow to him because of the Earnhardt name - they should start tearing the pages out of the rule book that say "applies to all except Jr."

In a sense I feel sorry for Jr. He's trying to live up to a name - I'm reminded of Kyle Petty, who had more to live up to than Jr ever will, who said early in his carrer - "Richard Petty I ain't!!!", or words to that effect. And nobody ever expected miracles from Kyle Petty.

2009 appears to be starting out like 2008 did - Hendrix and team trying to figure out how to beat the Toyota's (primarily that of Kyle Bush). Only this year they got Mikey and Bryan Vickers (and Vickers team) to worry about.

Gonna be a fun, fun, fun season.

It wasn't that "we" were saying it wouldn't be a hit for the Hudson brand

It was the claim that the movie popularity would drive the price of Hudson coupes up...that didn't happen..;) (the economy has had more effect!)

    BTW -

Has anyone viewed the Cars movie with Blue-Ray and a good 1080P Television yet?

I'm interested in what you thought about the video and sound quality relative to DVD.

I recommend getting the Blu-ray version of Cars. I'm not sure about the sound quality being better, I think a person would have to spend thousands on a speaker system to hear a difference, but the video difference is incredible. The DVD version is so clear, I didn't think that I'd notice a difference, but the Blu-ray is eerily lifelike.

Don't forget the 120Hz frame rate. That makes a huge difference!

I'm perfectly happy with standard DVDs on my upconverting PS3. Makes them 1080 without buying a $40 movie.

I think if you were able to drive your stepdown Hudson before and after the movie you would think differently. I could have sold my 51 Coupe five times already. Sure the economy helped but some cars appreciated more than others. Hec, I'm having trouble finding someone to sell me a #1 or #2 condition 52 or 53 Club Coupe for 25K to 40K cash. That's alot of money in this economy. First the movie release, then the DVD, mechandising, followed by nationwide distribution on television. Priceless PR for the marque.
