Looking for a Stepdown Center Armrest

I was up late last night and had a strange idea - since I am going to have the seats re-upholstered I was thinking of looking at getting a rear seat arm rest and building it into my front seat.

I have to tear into the base mount of the seat anyway to fix severe cracks in the steel. So I'm thinking I would strip the fabric and padding to get to the underlying springs and build a mount for the arm rest.

Does anyone have a spare rear seat arm rest from a stepdown? I don't need the upholstery but would like the framework to be in good shape.

Thanks

  • I don't know, wouldn't a rear armrest, up front, be a bit wide?

the stepdown armrest just seems, well, huge....

    good idea though....

did you think about any other vehicles, that might provide an armrest?

(maybe one that's not quite as wide)

an armrest up front would be a nice touch

Hmmm...not sure - I was assuming the front seat was as wide as the back seat and therefore would fit as well - I may need to go measure to make sure.
