1948 headliner bows

Can someone tell me if the headliner bows are refered to 1-7 starting from the back?My bows were removed when I got the car and the paint is gone from the ends that indicate there position.

Is my only option now to find their correct position is test fitting each one until they all fit correctly? Thanks

They start at the front and the ends have to go into a rubber grommet along the sides. Walt.
