enameled emblems
Does anyone know the process to restore those enameled emblems on radiators, common on 1920s cars? I know there are places that restore them but I like to do everything myself if possible. As long as it doesn't require a lot of specialized equipment I figure I can do anything that anyone else can. Any help would be appreciated.

You might buy an enameling kit complete with glass beads (or whatever they use) and a tiny furnace -- such as this http://www.thompsonenamel.com/products/supplements/beginner.htm . I had one of these when I was a kid, back in the 1950's. But by the time you laid out all that money, it might be easier to just send the broken original (and a fat check!) to a place like emblemagic!0

I wonder if some of the powder coating stuff would work? At least for the solid color portions. The translucent colors ,not so much.0

If powder coating is used, is the heat treatment considered a potential problem? Just wondering. Bob0

Dover1, You are right about Karla Maxwell's work. I have a 1927 Hudson emblem she restored, and it is of the finest quality. Dee0
