The '31 H BT is one of the few Hudsons CCCA accepts as a true "Classic" ergo it has a wider market than just us Hudson lovers (like the '29 dual cowl phaetons). The E BT DOES NOT fall into that category.

    These were bodied by Murray.

Many years ago, I believe at the last National in St. Louis, Eldon brought a '31 H BT (which is in his Museum now) which he'd just bought out of a museum somewhere & I was told that he'd paid $125,000 for it.

I'd bet they're asking $100 K or more for it assuming it's as good as it looks.

Over the years I've known of several H BTs that belonged to CCCA members but not HET.

Harrah had 2 of them but they were auctioned off after his death one ending up in L. A., don't know of what happened to the other.

Hi Pete---Eldon's 31 Hudson boat-tail was my old 31 that was restored by Steve Sessions. I had originally sold it at an auction to someone who manufactured trash dumpsters who then sold it to Eldon. Just trying to keep the records straight.---Cliff Minard.

Hi Cliff - I just remember someone at St. Louis saying he'd bought it out of a museum someplace in the South, but "what do chickens know", LOL.

I remember telling Steve about a '37 T station wagon for sale in upstate N. Y. which he bought & restored - it was really a beauty, like your BT, but it's "fallen off the map" as I've not seen or heard of it for a LONG time. He sent me several large prints of it following restoration which I've got rattling around somewhere. Far more rare & interesting than the '41 on eBay (which they claim is the only one known when there is in fact another '41 wagon within 100 miles of them, LOL) and they're asking only a modest $200,000!

Well, it's waaaaaaaaaay out of my price range, to say the very least, but it sure is one good looking piece of machinery.

well it's certainly unique, esp. in the Hudson line, as the so called "boattailed" cars were only built by a few manufacturers, mostly high end (such as Auburn, Duesenberg, etc.) & the only year Hudson had them built on the Hudson chassis was '31.

"Boattails" are usually considered the most rakish, sexy, avant garde body style, sort of a '20-'30s continuation of the "raceabout" teens bodies with monocle windshields & racy paint jobs when most cars were black (Hudson built some of those in '12 & '13 & called them "Mile-A-Minute" roadsters, usually yellow).

"those were the days my friend", now all are generic, plastic, rubber = a BIG yawn, LOL.
