52 Hornet fuel tank

Is any one making new fuel tanks for Hudsons. If not, I am looking for a nice tank for a 52 Hornet Hollywood. The one I have looked pretty good on the outside till I pulled the sending unit out. The baffle inside is rusted in two. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Doug

  • No one is making replacement fuel tanks for Hudsons. Check the vendor listing on Ken Cates" Hudson Website.... for a good used replacement.

If you are looking for a new tank for your Hudson, Rock Valley Antique

Auto Parts claims that they can make you stainless steel one.

Rock Valley makes some beautiful tanks. I bought one for my 34 Chevy many years ago and it fit perfectly and think the price was about $400. When I called a couple years ago for a tank for my Hudson Pu they did not make one. But if I sent my tank they would make one for $800. Not in my budget. However, there is a company, TANKS, that make reasonally priced tanks for certain cars, not Hudson PU's. I got there catalog and it looks like there are a couple tanks I can adapt to my PU. Their price is $225. I hope this helps you. God bless, Lee

Doug, where are you located?. Are you a member of the HET club?. It isn't hard to find one of these that is a good core to rebuild, just have to know where to look.
  • Hi Clutch guy. I'm the one restoring Chuck's car in New Castle. His tank looked great on the outside being a California car but the inside looked like crap. I cut the end out of it today and cut the old baffle out. There aren't any holes rusted through so I'm going to have it cleaned at ready strip. If there are no deep pitted areas the I will weld in a new baffle and weld the end back in. Unless, of course I find a good used one in the mean time. Thanks, Doug

Check out a boat tank website. Many sizes in plastic. Yup, not correct, but who has mirrors under a Hudson?

I just had the RENEW process done to mine. They take the tank apart, blast it and coat it inside and out. They also rebuilt the sending unit. Was about 375.00. If you are interested I can give you their number. They are in So Cal.
