I am working on the trunk. What was originally used for the mat, and what color was it. and was there an insulation board between the trunk and the rear seat ????

    This is a trunk mat from a 52 sedan,

    This is the pattern, the photo does not show the color well.

    The color is more of an off white and olive green. Do a search on this forum for this mat, other posts have been made. I do not believe anyone is reproducing these.

    The board between the back seat and the trunk is the same type of panel board used on the doors.

    Pat is teasing us by posting pictures of his original trunk mat. LOL



    Even if it wasn't there originally, you can use fiber type carpet padding between the metal and the cardboard of the package shelf as well as the area you mention. And here's a big revelation, you can also use it as carpet padding. :D In addition to whatever insulation value it may have, fiber padding will quiet things down and won't trap moisture.
